So, my LHBS closed recently so I had to order grain from an online supplier. I requested the grains be milled and all packaging (once received) said that it was milled. However, I got suspicious when I mashed in and things didn’t “feel” right. I checked packaging again and it did indeed say “milled” but by the end of my brew day I realized and accepted that the grain had not, in fact, been cracked at all. OG was supposed to be 1.050 and all I got was 1.010 which is my usual FG. My question is this: Can I use this failed batch as mash/strike water when I redo this beer or do I add a bunch of adjuncts to it and see if I get a mega-low ABV beer?
